Shop like a local
Illum is Copenhagen’s main high-end shopping destination presenting brands such as Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen and their latest addition, the Tiffany & Co Scandinavian flagship store. Just around the corner from the Illum fashion shopping mall you will find Illum’s Bolighus which is a Illum’s take on a department store bursting with Scandinavian interior design brands, furniture and jewellery. Both are located 15 mins walk from Nobis Hotel Copenhagen, and can be reached by taxi in less than 5 minutes.
Just behind Illum fashion shopping mall you will find Pilestræde. A trendy narrow street with cosy coffee shops and restaurants but also address to some of Copenhagen’s trendiest brands such as DAY Birger et Mikkelsen with their popular weekend travel bags and ranges of modern and urban collections for female shoppers. In Pilestræde you will also find Swedish brand Acne Studios with a wide range of both male and female collections of their innovative and graphic clothing designs. Other brand stores located in and around Pilestræde worth mentioning are Brunello Cucinelli, Samsoe & Samsoe, Designer’s Remix and Maria Black Jewellery flagship store.
See some sights
Just across the street from the main entrance of Nobis Hotel Copenhagen you will find the beautiful museum Glyptoteket housing marble statues, artistic masterpieces and moods from both Egypt and the Mediterranean. Apart from their magnificent winter garden with water fountains and palm trees, Glyptoteket always offers new perspectives on culture and civilisation seen through their 6000 years collection of art.
The Danish Architecture Center also known as DAC has moved location and is now located just 2 minutes’ walk from Nobis Hotel Copenhagen on the scenic Copenhagen harbour front in the new architectural masterpiece named BLOX. The Danish Architecture Center is the meeting place for architecture, design and urban culture in the heart of Copenhagen. In the BLOX complex you will also find cafés, a food hall, fitness centre and a new innovative playground for the younger crowd.
Only a short walk from our hotel, the Christiansborg Palace is located on the island of Slotsholmen. Apart from functioning as the parliament building, Christiansborg houses many interesting seights worth visiting for anyone interested in culture, politics and Danish royal history. Just to highlight a few points not to be missed in the Christiansborg Palace; the tapestries (100 year old history woven in wool), the 800 year old castle ruins, the Royal Stables and the view from the castle tower.
A drink to toast your arrival
Of course, worth highlighting is our own Marble Bar with its’ black marble floors, walls and bar counter and interesting twists on classic cocktails, located on the lower ground floor with cosy lounge furniture and pleasant dim lighting from the sky light windows. Another one of our favourite bars located in walking distance is Ruby, facing the beautiful Christiansborg Palace and offerering splendid cocktails in a timeless atmosphere. Ruby is definitely an institution in the Copenhagen cocktail industry.
The Marble Bar
Go to K-Bar for a fun experience in Copenhagen’s oldest cocktail bar, still run by the same owner and founder, Kirsten Holm, from 15 years back. Kirsten gets her inspiration from social trends and keeps interpreting her extensive cocktail menu.
Dining and wining
On our lower ground floor, you will find our Restaurant NOI, serving a menu with inspiration from all over Europe. The ambience is elegant and yet inviting, with a large focus on sharing dishes and inviting atmosphere to spend in nice company.
On the beautiful harbour front, set in the former world’s best restaurant Noma, you will find Barr. Just a short taxi ride from our hotel, this new addition to Copenhagen’s dining scene offers traditional Danish cuisine taken to a whole new level. They also house their own microbrewery, and are always more than happy to assist with beer pairing recommendation for their innovative cuisine.
In the hip and cool Vesterbro area, just a 10-minute taxi ride, Formel B is located in the quiet end on the usually buzzing Vesterbrogade. The concept of this Michelin star rated restaurant it to give every guest their own choice of dining experience, free from dogmas and rules of set menus. In this place flexibility is a key word. They focus on animal welfare, organic produce and sustainability. Still part of the absolute top elite of Copenhagen’s fine dining scene.
